Application for the doctoral programme
The admission to the doctoral programme is determined by an admissions committee consisting of three members (supervisor, head of the doctoral school, dean of studies). The decision-making may take some time. Therefore, we kindly ask you to observe the following application deadline:
Application deadline for the winter term 2024 starts on July 1, 2024, and ends on October 31, 2024.
Everything I need to know before starting a doctoral programme
1. Step
To apply for admission to the doctoral program, you first need a research topic and a supervisor.
Supervision can only be provided by qualified members of the relevant doctoral school.
In consultation with the supervisor, the "Application for the Doctoral Programme of the Faculty of Natural Science and Supervision Agreement" is required. The student has to obtain the corresponding signatures at the red arrows (supervisor, mentor, optional co-supervisor, optional contributor, head of the institute, head of the doctoral school). A short exposé of no more than one page must be attached to the application form.
2. Step:
The second step is to apply for the doctoral program with the Application tool of the University of Graz.
The following documents are mandatory for the online application:
- "Application for the Doctoral Programme of the Faculty of Natural Science and Supervision Agreement" (including a one-page short exposé)
- current photo
- passport
- Proof of completed studies
- foreign documents must be translated and duly certified (exception for translation: German and English documents)
- Information about attestation
- List of the courses attended in the preliminary studies/research or major areas of study (proof of success, transcript, diploma supplement)
- Proof of language skills
- Academic CV
